Where the game starts, though not in a way you chose. A car leaves this building with a young man in the back of it, drives the ninety-odd metres to number 6, and puts him out on the pavement with a lecture and the terms of his licence.

PC 3417 drives. PC 2814 sits in the front passenger seat and does the talking on the doorstep: the house is furnished, the rent and the bills are paid, and all of that holds provided you are at the job centre at half past nine the following morning. The older officer wishes you luck and means about half of it.

You will see the same car again. There is an officer in plain clothes who walks the footways properly, and he notices things.
