Around thirteen hundred separate items on the shelves, and they are not arranged at random: the expensive things sit at eye level, the cheap things live down by your ankles, the cigarettes are in the pigeonholes behind the counter, and the alcohol is in the corner fridge because it is the only shelf with the headroom for a thirty-centimetre bottle.
